Bondor NZ's XFLAM fire resistant panel was chosen as the wall and façade system for the 4 level clinical link building to the Acute services department at Taranaki Base Hospital.
The brief was to provide an all in one wall and façade system that met specific requirements for lateral displacement and weather tightness post a seismic event.
Given the public entrance was part of the link building a contemporary aesthetic finish was mandatory. Bondor NZ's satin line profile in brilliant metallic silver was selected for the entry and Askin's metric profile in sandstone grey from the Bluescope range of colours was installed to the link building and lift shaft.
During the engineering peer review XFLAM panel demonstrated its ability to accommodate significant lateral movements under SLS and ULS conditions. In the event of a significant seismic occurrence precedence was given to the design to ensure that the panel system would remain in place consistent with the structure. Adept flashings ensure the panels will remain watertight.
